Do today's kids have "nature-deficit disorder"?

There was a waterfall @ Red Rock

Red Rock

On top of our cliff...the neighborhood cliff

After attending a Montessori Teacher Conference a few weeks back, I felt inspired. I don't want my children to be addicted to the couch, internet, tv. There is something to be said that it's better to feel & touch snow & the waterfalls than to watch it on the Discvery Channel...no offense...it is one of our fave channels. So to answer my own question.....Not my kids....I hope not????

Our goal is to get out into more nature outings...wanna join us??

It's sad that kids don't get out more, since we actually have more outdoor play days than cooler climates. OK - summers are not fun, but we have awesome spring and fall weather! Great plan to get out and enjoy it more! And maybe enjoy a little dutch oven cooking....?

That's the plan...we are going to teach the boys to do a dutch meal...maybe in the backyard since it still looks like desert. :)

I've learned that Jonas LOVES nature. It brings him to life in a totally different way. Jed's dad is like that, too. I seriously think it's in his genes. We try to find more outdoor activities now so we can help that part of him develop, we don't get out as much as we would like, but we do what we can.

I totally agree with you! Unfortunately, sometimes it's hard to get outside and experience nature when you live in a city that has one of the worst winters in the U.S. This year in Chicago, it's been horrible. It's so hard to go to places outside when it's 10 degrees below zero! I think when children are connected with nature, the appreciate so much more! Hopefully when I move back down to Florida I'll be able to get out more often!
